Manchester City have agreed to sign safeguard Ruben Dias from Benfica for 68 million euros ($79.13 million) or more additional items, the Portuguese club have said.
City’s Argentinian safeguard Nicolas Otamendi will go the other path in a different exchange for 15 million euros, Benfica said.
Benfica affirmed the exchanges in an announcement on Sunday yet said the players would even now need to sign their individual agreements.
Dias, 23, has shown up during a four-year spell with the Portuguese club, winning the alliance title in 2018-19. He has won 19 tops for Portugal and was essential for the side that lifted the UEFA Nations League prize a year ago.
His appearance will help shore up a defective City protection, which transported five objectives to Leicester City on Sunday.
Dias will be City’s fifth marking of the late spring, following the appearances of Pablo Moreno, Ferran Torres, Nathan Ake and Scott Carson.
Otamendi, 32, won two Premier League titles and a FA Cup with City and leaves after five seasons.
