World T20 is scheduled from 18 October to 15 November
The World T20 should be scheduled from 18 October to 15 November and the six-nation Asia Cup should not be held in September, with the BCCI hoping it will open a window to the stage of the Indian Premier League.
A Cricket Australia (CA) official said that this year it would be considered ‘unrealistic’. “If what the host country is saying is clearly a matter for the ICC (International Cricket Council) to take action soon. All the cricket boards and players involved are waiting for a decision,” the Indian on Tuesday Cricket Board of Control (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal said.
The World T20 should be scheduled from 18 October to 15 November and the six-nation Asia Cup should not be held in September, with the BCCI hoping it will open a window to the stage of the Indian Premier League. The BCCI is looking forward to a T20 competition of around Rs 4000 crore in late September or early October.
Dhumal was reacting to a comment by CA President Earl Eddings earlier in the day. “While it has not been formally discontinued this year, or has been postponed, in the current world Australia is trying to get 16 countries, where most countries are still going through Kovid, I think it’s unrealistic, or it’s going to be a lot, very difficult, “Eddings told reporters.
However, Australia is working on hosting foreign teams. “Cricket Australia and the ICC T20 World Cup Local Organizing Committee are consulting with relevant Australian government agencies in developing their biosafety scheme to support the resumption of professional cricket in Australia. This includes arrangements for the arrival of international teams, accommodation, training environments and venue logistics, ”Australia Sports Minister Richard Kolebeck said in an interview.
“The Australian Border Force Commissioner is authorized to grant approval for non-Australians or Australian residents to come through the border into Australia. Any application will be considered by Cricket Australia on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with relevant health authorities.
With only 491 active Kovid-19 cases, Australia has also been working on crowding stadiums since July, according to its Health Department website. Places that hold 40,000 will be allowed to hold 10,000 spectators.
“This will not happen without clear precautions. Australian states and territories are responsible for implementing arrangements regarding the resumption of sport in each jurisdiction. This may result in a restriction on viewership. We are committed to implementing and supporting measures to keep players and spectators safe.
With a T20 league performance in Darwin last week, Australia have also made it easier to play and although there is no clarity yet on when domestic or international cricket will begin, the country’s top cricketers like Steve Smith and David Warner have trained started.
Australian fast bowler Ken Richardson said the World T20 should move ahead of schedule. “I think this is the right move (to decide on the World Cup). I think Australia and New Zealand have actually been very good in terms of leveling the curve, so I think some cricket this summer There is some positivity with positivity.
Kolbeck said the final decision on the World Cup is not with him. “Any decision regarding the men’s T20 World Cup is ultimately a matter for the ICC,” he said.
In a meeting last week, the ICC decided to wait until the following month, to arrive at a ‘deliberate decision’. A disregard cannot be denied based on what Eddings said and what the BCCI saw as the world’s richest cricket board.
Dhumal said the CA removed CEO Kevin Roberts, who led the negotiations with the BCCI, not affecting India’s tour of Australia later this year. “It won’t matter. We will continue to engage with CA.”
The CA has announced that India will visit Australia for four Tests and three ODIs in December-January. CA has also scheduled three T20s in October but will likely be called when the World T20 is due. Australia tour to India is worth 300 million Australia dollars for CA.
