26 lakh bookings for special trains by the end of the month

Railways said on Sunday that around 26 lakh passengers had made bookings for the advance reservation period {ARP} from June 1 to June 30 and over 1.45 lakh passengers would travel with the operation of 200 special trains on Monday.

These services will be in addition to Shramik Special trains and 30 Special AC trains from May 12.

Passengers must arrive at the station at least 90 minutes before departure and only confirmed passengers with confirmed or RAC tickets will be allowed to enter the railway station and board trains, the railway said.

However, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra have expressed reservations about planned services. The three states have expressed concern over the growing Kovid cases because of their opposition and stagnation as planned by their movement. “The matter is being discussed with the states. Any other development in this regard will be informed, ”a railway spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the Central Information Commission (CIC) has dragged an officer of the Office of the Chief Labor Commissioner (CLC) to a “smooth and casual” response in denying data on migrants trapped under the RTI Act. The CIC has asked the Ministry of Labor to “maintain a dynamic website regarding migrants’ data when received from regional heads”. Activist Venkatesh Nayak had filed an RTI application seeking to know the state-wise names of the districts from where data about the stranded migrants was obtained.
