Ready To Contest Assembly Seats In Punjab
Chandigarh: Senior Punjab BJP leader and former cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal said that the BJP will contest 59 seats in the Punjab assembly elections. Mittal further said that BJP has also selected these 59 seats and preparations are going on.
He said that he was making this announcement not personally but as a party spokesperson. Meanwhile, he said that BJP will contest in two seats in Ropar. The Anandpur Sahib constituency is already with the BJP, which has now claimed the Ropar seat.
Mittal said that the Akali Dal would contest from Chamkaur Sahib out of the three seats in the district. He said that the BJP was ready and if the Shiromani Akali Dal did not agree, the BJP was ready to sideline him. At the same time, Mittal said that the relief sent by the central government to Punjab in the era of corona virus has not reached the people.
He had also lodged a complaint with DC of Ropar and SDM of Anandpur Sahib at the local level, after which the matter was resolved. He said that a CBI inquiry has been sought from the Center regarding the relief.
If there is no investigation now, it will happen when his government comes to Punjab. He questioned the government about the relief given to liquor and mining traders in Punjab and said that no relief was given to small shopkeepers and other small traders.
