First time in history of 126 years Bata made an Indian CEO of the company
International shoe company Bata has appointed Sandeep Kataria as its Global CEO. Bata has given the reins of its global business to an Indian for the first time. Kataria will succeed Alexis Nassard, who held this position for the last five years. Sandeep Kataria was associated with Bata Company in the year 2017.
Who is Sandeep Kataria
After becoming the global CEO of Bata India, 49-year-old Kataria has joined the list along with Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Alphabet’s Sundar Pichai, MasterCard’s Ajay Banga, IBM’s Arvind Krishna, Reckitt Benckiser’s Laxman Narasimhan. Kataria, who did engineering from IIT-Delhi, is a 1993 PGDBM batch gold medalist from XLRI. He has 24 years of experience. He has worked in Unilever, Yum Brands and Vodafone in India and Europe. He joined Bata India in July 2017 and two years later became the President of India Region.
Run ‘Surprisingly Bata’ campaign
Bata India Limited Chairman Ashwini Windlass congratulated him saying that in the last few years, India team has done a great job in footwear volume growth, revenue and profit. According to the company, as the CEO of Bata India Limited, Kataria worked on continuous growth and profit growth. Under his leadership, Bata India doubled profits. Kataria ran a campaign called ‘Surprisingly Bata’ and revamped the brand image.
